Relationship as a Path of Awakening: Healing Conflict to Evolve Yours Soul’s Potential and Experience Bliss

The Graduate Institute presents an in depth workshop by Enrico Cheli, PhD on Friday December 12 from 7 to 9:30; Saturday December 13 from 9:30 to 5:00; and Sunday December 14 from 10:00 to 4:00

b2ap3_thumbnail_Enrico.jpgAre you seeking greater satisfaction and harmony in your relationships, especially with your closest friends, family and intimate partner?  Does difference, disagreement or conflict disrupt your life, drain your energy or limit the bliss and love you experience daily. The very disruptions that you seek to escape from may be the key to

  • psycho-spiritual growth,
  • personal enrichment
  • an escape from the obscurations that limit joy and
  • more fully engaging in life in ways that positively impact the world around you

We all want a sense of belonging without sacrificing our sense of self, but how do we do that?  This course is designed to help free ourselves from the need to conform and to repress our creativity in order to belong in an intimate relationship, family, or work situation. The energy that drives spiritual development lies in the polarity between the two very human drives, to be ourselves and to be connected to others. These drives manifest most dramatically in our one-on-one and group relationships, and in particular in our intimate relationships. Most of us could benefit from a wider repertoire of skillful alternatives with our partners and in our relationships at home or at work. Often we react based on patterns from our family of origin or from an emotional wound suffered earlier in life. The most effective way to avoid this cul-de-sac is to pursue an integral approach to psycho-spiritual development, taking 100% responsibility for our emotions, and developing deep compassion for ourselves, our intimate partners, and the many additional relationships we encounter daily

Each of us is faced with the simultaneous challenge of reconciling our need for autonomy and desire for acceptance and belonging.  Very few of us are able to skillfully express the fullness of our being in a way that engages us in genuine connection and helps the relationships and groups we are part of evolve further along the spiral of development. Only by creating a harmony between our deep desire to belong (to another, a family or a larger community) with our ambition to actualize our creative talents can we move beyond the unsatisfying dilemmas of isolation or enmeshment.

In this experiential weekend workshop you will learn to:

  • Re-pattern the reptilian brain to move beyond fear
  • Develop a deeper sense of safety even under stress
  • Dare to soften in the face of difference or disagreement
  • Try on new perspectives without being attached to any single point of view
  • Loosen  your harsh judgments of self and others
  • Become curious about your repeated patterns of self-sabotage
  • Develop a sense of humor and humility in the face of relationship challenges
  • Express your authentic self without giving up a sense of belonging
  • Find the deeper harmony beneath this tension of apparent opposites
  • No longer become trapped in either claustrophobia or isolation
  • More fully integrate your mind and body
  • Experience true communion without sacrificing your authenticity

Awakening the Hidden Storyteller: Discovering your Natural Storytelling Abilities

A Workshop with Robin Moore:  December 11, 6pm – 8pm

b2ap3_thumbnail_Robin-Moore.jpgJoin us for an evening of compelling storytelling and personal discovery as we explore the essential elements of storytelling, story-listening and story-creating with Author and Storyteller Robin Moore.

Robin believes that each of us has a natural–born storyteller inside, waiting to be released. Journeying to the sound of his Celtic Harp, we will dive deep into the imagination and return with vivid story material which will allow us to create compelling narratives from mythic, cultural and personal memory.

Come prepared to learn something about yourself and to enjoy the deep satisfaction that comes from crafting a story which emerges directly from the imagination and can be shaped and formed into that tiny jewel of verbal artistry that we call Story.

Robin Moore has made his living for 32 years as a professional storyteller. He has presented more than 5,000 storytelling programs and workshops and has told stories to more than one million people. Robin was named National Storyteller of the Year and has taught Storytelling at the University of Pennsylvania, Temple University and at Omega Institute.  He is the author of more than a dozen books, including Awakening the Hidden Storyteller, his award-winning storytelling instructional manual. He holds a Master’s Degree in Oral Traditions from the Graduate Institute and has served as Program Coordinator for The Oral Traditions Program for twelve years.

Robin is working with the TGI faculty to launch the new Applied Storytelling Certificate Program which focuses on the pervasive power of story while empowering participants to become skillful storytellers and story practitioners—using story as an agent for positive change in the fields of business, education, wellness, social activism and personal growth. The program is slated to launch in late Winter of 2015.
